Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How are teams selected?
A: Each year, each team will hold 2 tryout sessions. It is not mandatory to attend both sessions. However, attending more sessions will allow the coaching staff a better chance to see the players true abilities. Players will be evaluated by several coaches, often including coaches from other teams. Selection criteria include ability, commitment, attitude, age and player development. Depending on the number and talent level of the players attending tryouts, one or two teams may be selected per age group.

Q: How much are Club fees?
A: Each team has an operating budget, which includes items such as uniforms, equipment, indoor training, coaching, referee and league fees. The minimum approximate cost for a Premier team player (U12- U19) is $900-$1200. Per player costs on individual teams will vary depending on indoor training, tournament participation, State Cup involvement, etc. Each family and player will know their approximate respective cost at the start of the season.
Families can alleviate much of the cost of the program if they participate in fund raising activities. Travel costs for tournaments are the responsibility of each individual family.

The indoor season starts in November and runs through April. Indoor often consists of 2 practices per week. Teams have the option to enter a November-January and/or a January-March indoor league. A: Players make a full year commitment to the Syracuse Football Club. Players are expected to attend most practices, have a positive attitude, be attentive, and work hard.
The Syracuse Football Club program requires a high level of commitment from players, parents and coaches. Participation in other sports or activities is accepted, primarily in the Fall and early Winter months. Q: Why should my child play Premier Level Soccer?
A: Players only grow when challenged. A player that is left un-challenged at an early age will never need to develop skill sets to find success. If left un-challenged this player will still only have their basic skills at a later age because they never had a need to develop.
Premier level soccer allows the best players to compete against each other on a regular basis in practice. Through premier level league play and attendance in some of the highest level tournaments nation-wide, players are further tested in competitive play. Older teams often attend College Showcase tournaments which will increase a player's exposure to college coaches.
